I had never seen or heard of this shield bug until I came across it at one of my regular photo spots on the Stoneleigh Park where I have worked for many years. You just never know when something like this will turn up. The reason for the strange name is obvious from its markings I would guess. It was a lot smaller than most shield bugs but a fantastic find for me. It goes to show you have to keep on looking.
